Hello lovely readers,
Yesterday was my birthday, and I turned 41! 🎉
This might not seem like a big deal, but for me, it was HUGE. You see, I've never been one to shout my age from the rooftops. In fact, I usually avoid mentioning it altogether. But this year was different. I proudly stated my age on my Facebook birthday post, and I felt a sense of joy and acceptance that I hadn’t felt before.
Now, let me tell you a little secret about my husband. He’s the kind of guy who always tells everyone how old I am, not to embarrass me or make me sound "old," but because he loves me so much. He’s proud of me, and every year I age is another year we get to spend together. He often tells me, “I LOVE that I get to be the one to grow old with you. Every grey hair, every fine line, and wrinkle we gain, we get to gain them together.” Isn't that beautiful? 💕
This year, something shifted in me. I’ve started not just accepting but loving the process of growing older. I used to dread my birthdays, seeing them as a negative reminder that I was getting older and closer to the end. How horrible is that? This year, though, I did a complete 360. Instead of seeing it as a countdown, I’m seeing it as a blessing.
I’m not only proud of my age, but I am deeply grateful. Grateful that God has blessed me with another year. Another year to spend with my incredible husband. Another year to mother my wonderful children and watch them continue to grow and succeed. Another year to be a grandma to the most special little boy. Another year to grow in my faith and walk with Christ. Another year to "get it right" and make a difference in someone's life.
How blessed are we who get to celebrate another birthday? So many people never got the chance to see 41, but I did. And for that, I am truly thankful. Here's to 41! 🥂
A scripture that resonates deeply with this new perspective is Psalm 90:12 (NLT): “Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.” This verse reminds me to treasure each day and to use the time I have wisely, growing in wisdom and faith.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Let’s celebrate each year with gratitude and joy, knowing that every moment is a precious gift from God.
